Getting started

1. Click the lamp icon in your menu bar. The cord drops down.
2. Pull the handle down until the switch clicks. Your Mac switches between Light and Dark.
3. Click the lamp again (or wait, if you set "Put the cord away" in Settings) and the cord reels back in.

Choose Open PullCord… from the lamp's menu to browse the cords, try their sounds and pick colours.

The cord clicks but nothing changes

PullCord needs permission to control System Events, which is how it switches the appearance. Open System Settings, go to Privacy & Security, then Automation, find PullCord and turn on System Events. PullCord's Settings window shows whether the permission is on, with a button that opens the right place.

Purchases

Classic, Ball Chain and Phone Cord are free. The other cords come in the Cord Collection, a one-time purchase in the Mac App Store version. Bought it on another Mac? Open PullCord's Settings and click Restore Purchases, signed in with the same Apple Account. For refunds, use Apple's Report a Problem page.

Open at login and other settings

Everything else, from opening at login to sound and volume, lives in PullCord's Settings (the lamp's menu, then Settings…).
